Herbert Diess (Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Group) shared a photo of him and his work colleague Frank Welsch (Board Member for Development Volkswagen Passenger Cars; Head of Research and Development at Volkswagen AG – Hanover-Braunschweig-Göttingen-Wolfsburg region) posing next to a Tesla Model Y after test driving.
This photo was possibly taken before Diess’s meeting with Tesla CEO Elon Musk at the airport in Braunschweig, during which both of them was videoed driving the VW ID.3 on the runway.

“Of course I also tested a Tesla Model Y – with my colleague Frank Welsch. This car is for us in many aspects (not in all!)” – Wrote Diess as a comment on the video post he share yesterday, about his experience with Elon Musk in the ID.3 Test-driving.
He also emphasises on the “user experience, updatability, driving features, performance of the top of the range models, charging network, range.” as Tesla Model Y biggest advantages over other electric vehicles.
According to him the Tesla “Model Y was/is thought through as an electric car – as is the ID.3.”
“Many of our competitors still using their ICE platforms. The result: They aren’t getting the best EVs.” he adds.
