“Tesla Is Super Close To Developing Fully Autonomous Vehicles” – Elon Musk

Tesla CEO Elon Musk in a previously recorded video played at World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, China reiterated that Tesla is super close to developing fully autonomous vehicles, capable of self-driving with no human behind the wheel.

Level 5 fully self-driving Automation happens when no human controls the vehicle, no human is behind the wheel, while it self-drive from point A to point B, with or without humans inside it.

A fully autonomous vehicle will need or have no steering wheels as the car computer will use different kinds of sensors to navigate its ways. The car will be almost self aware of its environment by detecting using all sorts of sensors to watch and listen. There will be zero human interaction or attention needed to move the vehicle from start to finish.

“I’m confident that we will have the basic functionality of L5 autonomous driving this year. There are no fundamental challenges.”

Tesla CEO Elon Musk

Musk said Tesla has already solved most of the essential challenges towards achieving this level of autonomy that will require Tesla cars to self-drive with no human attention.

  1. Hmmm, we will see if ‘Elon Time’ applies to this prediction.. its a bold statement he makes here… End of 2019 ‘feature complete’ also did not happen… But if so, its a matter of gathering data to prove it realy works as level 5 autonomy, involve the rule makers and then one day.. “Next OTA update will make robotaxi available in your jurisdiction.. apply to the Tesla Network to start making money with your Tesla!”
